About me

David Conway was born in Mackay in 1983. He has been an artist since high school when he was commissioned by friends to paint abstract paintings for them. He attended Griffith University in Brisbane where he completed an Environmental Studies degree. After having a sporting accident in February 2004 that left him visually impaired and with spinal damage, he got back into art as a hobby. he originally started with charcoal drawings after the accident but has progressed to other mediums, including pastels, and paying with acrylic and high-flow paints. Focussing on his art has helped David manage his pain, but it has also turned into a small business. To date, David has sold over 450 pieces of original artwork.

When David isn't painting, he actively volunteers throughout the community. he finds volunteering extremely rewarding as he is able to help out some of the organisations that helped him through his own recovery and enjoys helping other people overcome their own challenges. David also delivers talks for safety and accident prevention in schools. Notably, David presented an inspiring TEDx talk in 2019.
